Dark as Night and Sweet as Sin

June 3, 2009 at 7:37 AM (podcast) (, )

So, I was drinking my coffee this morning, and came across PodSafe Audio. Obviously I’m not exactly in touch with the whole podcast subculture at this point, so excuse my ignorance about this site until now.

Literally, this is the neatest place I’ve been to in a while. A whole collection of music which has been deemed safe for podcast use! Rummaging through the “Film Music” genre has given me a few ideas for a couple of videos to whip up for no reason.

If you feel like listening to some tunes, I suggest taking a gander over there.

    Hey guys,

Listening to a bit of your GURPS AP, and you come accross a bit quiet. Are you using The Levelator? http://www.conversationsnetwork.org/levelator It might help raise your levels a bit.

Also, yes, the podsafe network is awesome, but here’s another nugget o’ knowledge: Many, many small time performers are easy to email and will give you permission to use their music if you just ask. I’ve personally gotten permission from Bad Religion, Jonathan Coulton, and the composers of the soundtracks to the video games Planescape Torment, Vampire: Bloodlines, Dawn of War II. Another fellow podcaster got permission to use *all* of Ani DiFranco’s stuff! So, don’t be afraid to shoot an artist an email and ask if you can use their stuff. They just might say yes!

    Keep up the good work,

Cool, I’ll give that program a shot for the next release. If it sounds good, I’ll apply it to all our current recordings (we have about 20-30 recorded right now) and re-upload. Thanks for the tidbit!

(Nice looking page layout you have there too!)
