Super Duper!

November 19, 2009 at 9:16 AM (Uncategorized)

It has been awhile since I’ve contributed anything of value to the blog. It’s been awhile since any of us have contributed new material. And I have been watching the hit count slowly dwindling to almost nothing.

hero tired

So I am posting here to proclaim our unofficial return to podcasting with an upcoming GURPS Supers oneshot adventure. We are progressing slowly through character creation currently, and things are starting to get interesting and a little…… outlandish.
hero attack!

Stay tuned for GURPS Supers action!

Thoughts from the Cap’n

July 29, 2009 at 9:19 AM (Uncategorized)

Listening back over the podcast, I feel I owe our listenership some sort of apology for our lack of focus … and an actual story line. Between laughing fits, poor accents and weak dramatic descriptions I did actually have a good a good bit of fun however and if nothing else gained more experience as a subpar GM.
That said, chatting last night with an old friend (ZenJedi), after listening to the podcasts he brought it to my attention that according to the old official RPG Gamer classification (http://dragon.facetieux.free.fr/jdr/Munchkin.htm), all three of my players seemed to fall into the “Loonie” classification. Interesting.
He also said that when it comes to getting them into a story line it’s like coaxing a fat kid wearing water wings clutching his mommy in the kiddie pool  to dive for pennies in the deep end.
No….. he didn’t actually say that… ..but maybe he should have?

Actually, in all honesty, I am glad they have mostly tottled along my story trails quite agreeably, while throwing in amusing twists to keep things interesting. All in all well done fellows!
Game on.

A note on accents

July 28, 2009 at 2:21 PM (Uncategorized)

As some of you might have noticed, Jo’eth has had corrected speech therapy since his earlier podcast adventures.
Some of you might have wondered when on earth did he have time for such a time-expensive activity. The answer: Screw you. As annoying as that voice was for you to listen to it was 10 times worse for me to be constantly doing it. It started up as a joke between the GM and myself. A kind of “Hey wouldn’t it be really funny if you’re guy was skilled, mysterious, and completely unintelligable?” We then spent the next 3 days laughing like idiots about it.
But the novelty wore off. Quickly. So, there we have it. I had a few extra char points to spend and annoying trait that I wanted to buy off slightly. Connery is pretty much the only voice I can even partly imitate so it seemed natural. Good for me. Hope you enjoyed.

Notes on Podcast #9 (and others)

June 16, 2009 at 6:19 AM (Uncategorized)

Well, it seems like I let a few podcasts go by without providing any details on what happened. For those not paying attention, There was a carriage chase in which I confused myself utterly with what I thought was going to be a cool idea, there was a visit to the mysterious Agony Aunts where Hectare was ‘healed’, and now they have returned to Francis’s domicile.

What is going to happen? Can’t tell.

Is there going to be a Villan monologue in which all is revealed? You bet (my villian happens to be gregarious)!

Is mayhem about to ensue and will there be zombies? Without a doubt.

What the hell happened to Hectare? You haven’t figured it out yet?

Good Gaming,

Notes on Podcast #6

June 5, 2009 at 11:23 PM (Uncategorized)

Well, I meant to post this earlier but better late than never…or some such nonsense.

This was an interesting podcast. I can’t decide if the PCs are just reckless and foolhardy with deep anarchistic tendencies or if my actual players just want to see how much I’ll let them get away with before I slap my head against the table and quietly whisper “You know what? You’re dead. Game over. You lose. Now go away.” It’s a tough call to make.

What exactly happens here? You’ll have to listen to get the full details but the gist of it is they are caught in the middle of a breaking and entering by the homeowner. They get in a fight. Maybe a candle is willfully thrown on some papers, maybe not. Perhaps an arm gets chopped off. I won’t say whose.

The one detail that stands out vividly in my mind about this whole encounter was this: Burgess has no idea who these guys are or what they want. AT ALL.

Those are my players. Diplomats to the core.

Yet another sad day for role players; SJGames has now stopped printing the hardcover versions of GURPS Magic (and is officially sold out) and GURPS Fantasy (not yet sold out, but soon). Boourns to soft covers!

On a side note, the Spaceships 4 PDF has been released on E23 😀

One of the most well thought out magic systems in Role Playing

Much like GURPS space, this gives incredible detail for making that world come alive

Podcast Enclosures Finally Working

May 28, 2009 at 10:23 AM (Uncategorized)

Hurrah; now when you subscribe to the feedburner feed you will be able to directly download the podcasts without any issue! Took a while, but I finally gave up on feedburner, and simply created the enclosures manually. By pointing feedburner to the manually created RSS file, it was finally able to link properly.

Now people who wished to subscribe using Amarok or iTunes (with OGG enabled) can finally listen!

Notes on Podcast #3

May 26, 2009 at 9:17 AM (Uncategorized)

Well well, the story is starting to develop somewhat.

This part of the adventure deals with the finer points of clearing bodies from your office space, dealing with frazzled staff, and how to introduce yourself to visitors when your place reeks of rotting meat.

Oh yeah, and we also get to witness our intrepid investigators be handed an actual case by a mysterious benefactor. How will it unfold? What impact shall these events have on our hero’s lives? Who is this Francis Roberts guy? Will we ever meet Jimbob again? Keep listening and find out…

Good Gaming,
